Banyan trees

One of my favorite tree in Mauritius, close second to the flame tree, is the Banyan tree.

Wherever you are on the island, there’s probably one around. And they are quite difficult to miss as they sometimes take huge proportions as they grow.

Their hanging roots (looking like dreadlocks) are unmistakable and usually offer some beautiful foreground features to beautiful photos.

And of course there is the fond memories and fun part of playing inside the huge tree or playing Tarzan and swinging on the roots!

What about you? Do you like the Banyan tree? Do you have any fond childhood memories about it? What is your favorite tree?
